Born in Durban, South Africa Warren has always had an affinity for the outdoors and the ocean in particular. An avid athlete, Warren surfs, plays soccer, mountain bikes, camps and canoes.
Warren has been studying Martial Arts for 24 years and has achieved a black belt in two disciplines, Karate & Kung-Fu. 18 years ago, he began teaching boxing and kickboxing for a dojo in Markham. He teaches both adults and teenagers and his teaching style can best be described as patient and intuitive.
With a strong yearning to re-connect with the ocean, Warren decided to fulfill a lifelong dream and learn to surf. He enrolled in an intensive course at a Billabong Surf School in Costa Rica where he received private and group lessons and attended Surf Theory sessions. After riding a wave back to shore on his very first attempt, he was most definitely hooked!
Being immersed in the Costa Rican "Pura Vida" culture, he seriously considering packing up and moving there! With that fire lit, he began searching for ways to stay connected to the water here at home. This is how he discovered Stand Up Paddling and found it to be an equally incredible and entirely accessible experience!
Believing that students should learn from someone who both loves the thing they teach and is qualified to do so, Warren began an intensive training program that has led to him attaining his PaddleFit Pro Coaching Certification as well as his Instructor Certification through Paddle Canada and The WPA (World Paddle Association). Warren is also certified as an Indo Board Instructor and in Standard First Aid and CPR-C through the Lifesaving Society. With his training, his years of teaching experience and his love of the sport. Warren is sure to make your introduction to Stand Up Paddling a safe and fun experience!
